Sadly we have had to make the decision not to send any more clothing etc. out to our projects simply due to the cost of transportation. Many thanks to everyone who has helped support our projects in this way over many years.
We will however still take non-prescription medicines for our pharmacy and would like to take Cadburys Creme eggs when we go in April.
We want to share with you some pictures from the Christmas Celebration at 'Silvia' Day Centre...We had a very nice time, together with the kids, parents and of course, Santa Clause! We wish you all, a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year! ... See MoreSee Less
An update from our Specialist Educational Team: Dr Maggie Wilson and Linda Edgell visited the Silvia Day Centre at the end of November. They have been working with staff at the centre for the last 12 years and built strong relationships with them, the children and their families. During the week, they were able to offer staff training on using visual supports to communication and on writing individual education plans for the children. Staff at the centre are now writing the plans and time was spent in reviewing this work.
Linda and Maggie also met with parents and spent time working directly with the children. The children benefit hugely from the education offered, which is a mixture of one-to-one and group learning.
The parents who can afford to, make a financial contribution to the work at the centre, but we are still heavily reliant on funds from the UK. If you would like to sponsor a child please do send us a message through facebook or our website. Lovely meeting with this brave group of ladies in our Breast Cancer Support Group, where we enjoyed coffee and delicious cake! We are getting many referrals from the oncology department of the local hospital but need more breast forms to give to these ladies following their sugery. Previously 'A Moena' supplied us with these forms and we are very grateful to them for their help in the past, but we urgently need more... Is there another company out there that could help us? ... Every Tuesday morning, we have a great time with the elderly at the Denis Day Centre, with table top games, quizzes, celebrations, bingo, exercise and a spiritual time. There is a therapist available to give a wonderful massage and our pharmacy open to provide non-prescription medication. We need to constantly restock the pharmacy with parecetemol and other basics. If you feel you could help to provide our elderly folk with this simple but much needed medication, your donation via our Just Giving page would be greatly appreciated: www.justgiving.com/HaveninRomania...
